Dear Heritage Families,
We are so excited to welcome you to Edmond’s beautiful Heritage Elementary! Truly a living museum, Heritage recognizes Oklahoma trailblazers who contributed to our Edmond, Oklahoma, and U.S. heritage. These heroes such as Will Rogers, Shannon Miller, and Woody Guthrie are role models for all of us as we are “Learning to be Heroes”—Heritage Heroes!
This year we anticipate having nearly 750 students—about 5 teachers per grade level. We are excited to continue the implementation of our math program, Bridges, and expand our digital initiative from fifth grade to PK and the new reading program, Into Reading. We are proud to announce that we again achieved Great Expectations Model School status. Only 106 schools in the U.S. have received this designation, and only two schools in the nation (Heritage and Frontier) have earned Model School status in their first year of existence. Through professional learning communities, we seek to provide each child with a positive, safe, and successful learning environment with tiered supports and a climate of mutual respect.
Our school calendar/handbook provides important information about our school and district. We hope you will read it to learn more about Heritage. We will be happy to answer any questions that you might have. We also ask that each family review important EPS policies located in the Parents Section of our website.
Watch for future announcements and events on our Facebook page (Heritage Elementary School Edmond, Oklahoma) and website. You can also follow us on Twitter: Heritage Elementary @HerotheEagle. In September please download our School Messenger app from the app store to begin receiving important announcements such as altered bus times and weather impact on school events. We can’t wait for you to become a part of Edmond’s Heritage!
Heritage Risin’!
Hero is the mascot for Heritage Elementary, but he’s so much more than that. We believe that all of us at Heritage are learning to be heroes. Hero was voted as the symbol of heroism by the students.
The image of Hero was created by our friend, Oklahoma illustrator, Danny Gordon. He created Hero to inspire us. Like Hero, each of us has a very special purpose and a unique voice. Eagles represent great hope and strength. We, too, want our students to set high goals for themselves and strive to accomplish them.
Heritage Heroes are world changers! We never give up! Eagles are known for their amazing vision. We work to help our students become visionaries and leaders, to consider new ideas and develop confidence. As Hero flies, he teaches our students to soar high and use their energies and talents for the greatest good. We inspire, encourage and serve. Just like Hero the Eagle…Watch us SOAR!
“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” Helen Keller
We believe that every child can be a hero, and we will foster the inner hero in each.
We will promote harmony at Heritage.
We convey love and support through all words and actions.
We will practice the GE 8 Expectations for Living and the GE 6 Tenets.
We are Heritage Heroes!
We believe everyone has a purpose and a voice.
We do what we can and never give up.
As problem solvers, we use what we learn today
to become better people tomorrow.
We are world changers:
We inspire, encourage, and serve.
Watch us SOAR!
