About Me:

My name is Deborah Crawford and I consider myself blessed to be the  school counselor at Heritage Elementary. I believe my purpose in life is to influence the development of young people so they become the successful, productive citizens of this world as their families hope and pray they will be. This includes teaching social/emotional skills as well as career and academic skills.  I have been an educator or counselor since 1977. I worked with elementary children until I took a position as a substance abuse counselor for 6 years. When my children were school age, I came back to education as a counselor. I have been an elementary, high school, or middle school counselor for many years now. I am a life-long  learner. Recently I have been learning about trauma and how it affects learning as well as grief counseling.

The  2018-2019 school year was my first year in Edmond Schools.  I find recently I am leaning on the scripture in Jeremiah 29:11:”For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord.  Plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you a hope and a future.”  My experience with students, parents, and administrators at Heritage has been so encouraging and  positive, sometimes I just have to say to whomever will listen,” This is my gift from God” (school counselor at Heritage)

I have two grown children and 5 grandchildren.  Four out of the five of them attend Edmond Schools.  Most of my free time is happily dedicated to my darling grandchildren.  My mother lives in Edmond. My siblings have raised all their children in Edmond.  Although I’m a transplanted Texan, I consider Edmond home and it is such a privilege to be at Heritage.
